Easan’s Journey as an Automobile Mechanic

Dive deeper into his journey.

The journey of building a career abroad often comes with challenges, learning experiences, and rewarding growth. For Easan, a skilled automobile mechanic from India, this journey began through Techno Smile India (TSI) under the TITP program. After a year, he successfully transitioned to SSW and is now working at Tire Garden Park in Kumamoto, Japan.

We had the opportunity to sit down with Easan and his manager, Mr. Karaki, to hear about his experiences working, living, and growing in Japan

Let's hear it from the client!

TSI: How is Easan’s performance at work?

Karaki: He does a very good job. He’s meticulous with repairs, which makes him very reliable. Plus, his Japanese is excellent!

TSI: This is your first time hiring an Indian worker. Did you have any concerns?

Karaki: At first, we planned to hire someone from the Philippines, but due to timing issues, we ended up hiring through Techno Smile. I was pleasantly surprised by how good his Japanese is. He works very hard, and honestly, I wish we had hired him sooner.

Resuming with Easan...

TSI: Easan, how is life in Japan?

Easan: It’s very enjoyable. Japan is clean and comfortable to live in. The place I stayed before was in the countryside, but here I have shops nearby, which is convenient. My friends from the TITP program are in distant areas, so I can’t meet them often, which makes me a little lonely. But I look forward to visiting them during holidays.

TSI: Have you experienced an earthquake yet? People from India usually don’t.

Easan: I haven’t experienced an earthquake yet, but there was heavy rain and flooding recently. It wasn’t dangerous for me, but the next day, about 10 flooded cars came to the shop, which surprised me.

TSI: Japan does face many natural disasters, but people here are used to them and always help each other, so please don’t worry.

Easan: Yes, I was worried before coming to Japan, but now I don’t feel concerned about it anymore.

TSI: What are your plans for the future?

Easan: I want to continue working in Japan as long as possible. I plan to take the exams to transition to SSW Type 2, so I’m studying hard for both the SSW test and the JLPT.

TSI: Best of luck! Do you have a message for those considering coming to Japan?

Easan: At first, it was difficult to adjust to the cultural and food differences, but now I really enjoy my life here. I’m not only improving my technical skills but also learning how to grow as a professional. This experience will help me both in Japan and when I return to India. Of course, studying Japanese and preparing for exams is challenging, but it’s worth it. I encourage everyone to give it a try!

TSI: Thank you very much, Easan. And thank you as well, Mr. Karaki. Please continue to support Easan, and Easan, keep up the great work!

TSI: How is your experience working as a car mechanic? Is it difficult?

Easan: Since I was already working as an automobile technician in India, it’s not very difficult for me. Back home, I mainly worked on Suzuki cars, but here I often handle cars from many different countries, so some tasks are a bit more complex.

TSI: How does it compare to your work experience in India?

Easan: I find working here much more enjoyable and rewarding compared to India. At home, the environment could be tough at times, but here everything is well-organized, and the staff are very kind, so it’s easier to work.
